Location: Southern Region of Africa; just north of South Africa.

Established: gained its independence in 1990 from South Africa after the Apartheid government fell

Government: Republic

Language: English is the official language but only 7% speak it.
                  Afrikaans is the most popular language followed by German and Indigenous languages

Population: 2,165,828
                          *This takes into account the high mortality rate due to the infectious disease of AIDS

Life Expectancy: Between 51-52 years old (depending on gender)

People Living with HIV/AIDS: 180,000 (6,700 people die from it)

Literacy Rate: 88.8% of the total population is literate.
